Hatchimals was the big craze last Christmas, a sell out toy which had parents queuing to get their hands on one and this year they have released some amazing new styles, a Glittery one!
We received a Glittering Garden Hatchimals last week, and couldn’t wait to experience what the Hatchimals effect is. First up, you get the box, which appears to have the egg poking out of the top. But fear not, this is for decoration only, so you don’t have to worry about breaking it.
Inside the box, you will find one egg, as this is the Glittering Garden edition, it’s a really glittery egg! There is also some instructions, which children will in no doubt not care about, one for you parents.
The egg is attached to a base which when you remove it from the base, it starts the hatching process so you don’t have to worry about it going off before you get a chance to open the box.
The hatching process is great fun, and is triggered by movement, so the more you cuddle your egg and rub it, the quicker it will start to hatch. The hatching part is SO clever, inside the Hatchimals spin and put their beak out, to tap their way out of the egg. You can see its eyes through the egg too, and even hear it making noises.
You have no idea what colour hatchimals will be inside the egg, so it’s a great surprise for the kids to find out what is hatching.
Then slowly your Hatchimal breaks itself free….there is no need to help it along. If it’s goes quiet, just give it a little rub again and it brings it back to hatching.
Once hatched you have a baby Hatchimal!
The fun doesn’t end there as you now have a moving (yes, it walks!) speaking (OK, in Hatchimal language at first) Hatchimal that goes through different stages of development according to what colour eyes it has. I love the fact they have an actual OFF and ON button underneath too, which means they won’t be going off randomly in the middle of the night. The wings move when the Hatchimal moves, and it’s cuddly outside is a hit with my kids!
