Baking is something I adore, it’s something which I never did with my own family growing up, my mum is certainly no baker! But I used to admire my friends mums who would bake them cakes, there just always seemed to be something magical about a home baked treat rather than a packet of shop bought cakes. So this is something I have made sure I do with my kids, although I am not a constant baker, I love showing the kids how we can have fun together in the kitchen. We were recently sent a whole host of goodies to get baking in the kitchen.
Today we have been trying out the Cake Pops kit. Cake Pops are fun to look at, and I have often admired other peoples, but I have never been brave enough to attempt my own, they just looked complicated! But with this set in hand, we decided to give it a go!
Inside the box was:
A cake pop mould and lid, made from silicon.
Two silicon cone moulds.
12 cake pop sticks.
One doughnut mould.
There is also instructions to tell you just how to make them. I used a very basic sponge recipe and poured the mixture into the moulds and just pushed the top mould on top of it and put it in the oven. I hoped it would work, but I wasn’t expecting miracles…
But look what came out!
Then was the fun part of decorating them. You get two cone moulds included, and these are great fun to use. Simply melt some chocolate and pour them into the moulds. Then leave them to set in the fridge and you get perfect chocolate cones! They are super easy to pop out of the moulds, as the moulds are silicon and flexible.
We had great fun decorating our cake pops, and the scope for creating something even more special is huge, Emma want’s to create turtles next time using green candy melts.
We love the Cake Pop set, it has an RRP of £9.99 and you don’t get loads inside the box, but what you do get is some great quality items and something that will encourage kids in the kitchen. It gets a thumbs up from us!
