Ants are fascinating creatures, their ability to be able to create their own colony is something that has amazed me since I was a child watching them walking all in a perfectly straight line at the zoo. Now I am a mum to four children and I am still amazed, so when we were offered Ant World for review, I am not sure who I wanted it for more, me or the children!
The box arrived and included was everything you needed, apart from the ants. Now you can either buy ants from www.interplayuk.com or you can find them in your garden, the choice is yours. We received mail order ants for the purpose of our review, but I can tell you there is no shortage of ants in my garden!
Included in the box is:
The plastic ant housing, connectable magnifying bowl, 2 shades, tubing, scene stickers, feeding pipette and tunelling sand.
When we first added the ants to the ant farm, I was concerned that they kept hiding in the corners and sides of the unit. So I put them away in my teenagers bedroom that hardly ever sees daylight, and true enough, the results have been amazing! It is fascinating to watch them go about their business, the way they carry the sand on their heads is astonishing.
There is plenty of additional information in the booklet provided, as well as many links for websites to find out more.
This product has a great educational aspect, but it is also great fun too. It is not one to buy and expect an ant farm to appear over night, you do need to be patient, but the results are worth it.
