The Wild Science range is vast, and it has lots for inquisitive little people to explore and really use their brains. We were sent two sets from the range, the Kaleidoscope Studio and the Crystal Growing Studio.
The Kaleidoscope Studio was first up, and Brooke at 10 years old has never heard or seen a Kaleidoscope! I have fond memories of them as a child, so it was lovely to be able to share my memories with the children while we made it. Brooke found the pieces to be all straight forward, you have to pop out some of the foam pieces, and the assembly isn’t easy, but it was a challenge and took a good hour for her to do it alone.
But that was good, as she followed and read the clear instructions, and she really felt rewarded when it was done and she could look through it at the patterns! You also get some extra images which look fab through your new Kaleidoscope too. It was really rewarding and a lovely set for a creative child.
The Crystal Growing Studio was next up. It sounds amazing! But I won’t lie, it does take some effort and it does take some patience too. I think the age range of 10+ is perfect, as Brooke at 10 had enough patience to be able to make a ball out of plaster of paris in two halves, with string in the middle and leave it to set for 4 hours. You then use the solution and put the ball into it, then magically the crystals start to grow over the next few days….this is still a work in progress here, but I shall update this soon with our results 🙂
Wild Science is a really nice change from the usual plastic toys that the children normally request for their Birthdays and Christmas, it gives them a chance to do something exciting and educational without even knowing it! The kids have loved these and it has really engaged them for a lengthy amount of time.
