When I was sent a Plum Products Spider Monkey swing recently, I had absolutely no idea what one was. I am sure I am not alone, as many people have asked what the amazing swing at the bottom of the garden is called. I present to you…

Spider Monkey!

This amazing swing is just like the ones you get at the adventure parks, which are nearly always busy with another child having a blast. Well now we no longer have to deal with the childrens whines to have a go, as they have their very own one in our garden. The great thing is, all four of my children can use this, although only 2 children at a time. But even with two children on it, there is bags of room.

As you can see, it’s large! It is also very very robust. The quality is amazing. I was worried about assembly, but it was so easy that it didn’t take a fraction of the 2 and half hours they recommend. The wood is thick and solid, literally like you get at the adventure playgrounds. The metal work that keeps the swing together is sturdy and solid. I honestly do not have a bad thing to say about it, I know, that’s rare for me!

The seat is actually softer and more comfortable than the ones you get at adventure playgrounds, the edges have foam inside, meaning no knocks and bumps. The seat is a kind of material, but is strong and despite finding my 11 year old stood on it, it is still as good as new. As you can see from the pictures, Bemma sometimes holds onto the ropes, which are child friendly as they are softer than normal harsh rope. The seat is easily detachable, which I love, as when the weather turns bad (this is England after all!), I can simply use the easy clip fastening to take it off and store away. The wood will be fine outside, it is pressure treated wood and is premium FSC certified. It also has a 12 month warranty against wood rot and insect damage.

We adore the Spider Monkey swing, it is the children’s most favourite item in the garden. I fully recommend it.

  1. Do you have a lot of frame movement with this swing? Did you anchor it in cement or leave it out. Finding ours is moving a lot with the slightest swing movement although it is not anchored. Don’t know if this is normal.

      1. Thank you. I find a lot of the reviews say this, but unfortunately for us, there is a lot of movement and wobbling at the slightest use. It doesn’t feel safe and Plum customer services are so far being less than helpful and seem unwilling to admit fault. Will update you if this changes. I have found a fair few reviews that warn of this, pity I didn’t read them first.
