Emma is 7 months old and her mobility is in full force. She has never been one to sit and observe, instead she likes to be upright on her feet and watching the older kids play. She has been on her feet since about 3 months old, a lot earlier than my previous children. She doesn’t like to sit still, she is perfectly able to support herself in a sitting position, she just prefers to pull herself up to standing or lay down and roll to where she wants to be.

Nothing is safe now, and her favourite thing to make a bee line for is the TV stand, especially the sky box and other electrical appliances. Leads are also another thing that interests Emma, along with remote controls….why do babies always want what they cannot have? My concrete fireplace is a nightmare, and currently I am padding it up with the cushions from the sofa…although I am sure there must be a safer and more convenient way to keep her safe…I am open to suggestions.

So now Emma is getting bigger, her toys are changing from soft cuddly toys into move adventurous things, and musical toys seem to go down a treat, as do stacking cups. However I have found that things such as plastic plates, plastic tubs filled with rubber ducks also hold her attention longer than most expensive toys! Paper and magazines was something I discovered today that Emma loves, she spent ages ripping my magazine apart, but she did also try eating it too so strict parental supervision required there!

Emma’s character is shining through more and more each day, she is becoming a little pickle who loves being sociable and wants to join in with the older ones. She seems confident, and is happiest with one of the kids being with her.  It’s exciting to watch her grow and see what she will become, but a little sad to see my baby is no longer much of a baby…
