Finding holidays that the whole family will enjoy can seem like a real struggle sometimes. It needn’t be as daunting as it seems, though. Many holidays can cater to the whole family, entertaining the kids while you relax and providing some unforgettable family bonding time.

Camping trips

Camping is all about getting away from modern life, but nowadays you don’t have to give up every comfort. You can choose how you want to camp, from selecting a basic tent in a field to choosing soft camp beds in a large family tent erected in a dedicated camping site that offers varying amenities, with warm showers, toilet blocks and electricity. There’s little that can compare to the satisfaction of cooking on a campfire and everyone can join in. Camping is a bonding experience, giving rise to a great deal of team work. It’s also a great opportunity to see the tourist sites and attractions of an area without paying an arm and a leg for the privilege.

Cruise holidays

Cruises may seem like the ultimate adult-friendly holiday, but they offer a vast range for younger members of the family too. There are clubs and workshops on every day, plus a good range of sporting activities, from swimming to Frisbee. In the evenings, many cruise operators run themed events for younger passengers as well as adults. The food is popular among passengers, as there is a vast range of dishes to suit everyone. There is also plenty of opportunity on board for the whole family to enjoy time apart or together and the educational experience of the trip is invaluable as well as being great fun for everyone.

Adventure holidays

There are numerous adventure holidays that cater to families. You can choose to focus on an activity or type of activity, such as water sports, or you can choose a package that lets you try a variety of outdoor pursuits. The beauty of these holidays is that they can cater to the whole family’s interests, taking age and ability into account. They’re great bonding experiences and adults will appreciate having someone else plan the day’s activities!

Holiday park breaks

Holiday parks have come a long way since their humble beginnings. Nowadays they offer lovely surroundings and a good variety of activities. The accommodation is comfortable and there are shops, restaurants and cafes. The kids will love the playgrounds and clubs, while the adults enjoy a little peace before doing some fun-filled activities for the whole family later on.

Christmas-themed holidays

Perhaps one of the many Christmas markets in Edinburgh, York or further afield in Prague or Germany would be perfect for your family. Young children love the magical atmosphere, traditional treats and fair attractions, while teens and adults appreciate the shopping experience, nostalgia and all the things the kids are enjoying! If you’ve had enough of shopping, skiing in Switzerland might be just the thing. At some resorts they go all out for the season, with visits from Santa, sleigh rides and delightful Swiss Christmas foods and decorations. Of course, the ultimate Christmas treat for many is a trip to Lapland to meet Father Christmas at home. See and pet the reindeer and take a sleigh ride with husky dogs!
