Looking back as a single parent

>It was only a few years ago that I was a single parent. It’s not something I had envisaged myself being, but then I don’t suppose its something that anyone plans purposely.
All of my friends were in relationships, and serious ones at that! All except one who was my saviour, someone to talk to and discuss potential dates with. Many days at work we would sit and talk about the guys we had got talking to on online dating sites. We would go through each others messages and give our complete honest opinions on our potential dates. It was also fantastic to have someone to tell where I was going if I went on a date with someone from a dating site…after all safety is super important when it comes to online dating.
I know dating websites have a bad reputation, but realistically where else do you meet other single people in today’s day in age? I loved that dating sites enabled you to be slightly shielded from the real world, I would never be able to stand in front a guy and tell him I wasn’t interested, that’s just far too uncomfortable. But with a screen for company I could turn down anyone I wasn’t interested in. I truly believe it’s a great way to get to know someone before you meet them in real life. It’s also great to be able to pick a location, whats the point of getting a date in Manchester when I am dating in london? It also means that you can find people who have the same interests as yourself, which is how I came to meet my husband.
I have always had a passion for cars, and although I know this isn’t the most girly of hobbies, I love a fast car! It was this mutual interest that bought us together via a car forum and Facebook. It gave us something to talk about, there was no awkward silence on our first date!

I would personally recommend that any singleton gives online dating a go, it’s great for both men and women to find someone with a common interest, so you could be a single dad dating the perfect lady in no time at all! There really is someone for everyone out there! I am living proof of that…
