This week I was invited to John Lewis on Oxford Street, London. For the exciting launch of mima!

I first come across mima when I recently attended The Baby show at the NEC in Birmingham. It was the first time they had revealed the brand to the British public, and as a buggy addict, it immediately caught my eye. It was fascinating to see something so unique and different for the pushchair market.

I was so pleased to go along to the launch this week so I could find out more about mima and how it was created.

Mima was founded by designer and creator, Davy Kho. Davy’s iconic designs can be seen across the globe and each one is fabulous and very unique.

Some of his creations include the gorgeous Bloom Fresco Highchair.

Designer and creator, Davy Kho, gets his inspiration for his designs from art and architecture rather than looking at existing products available already on the market. Davy, a father of two, designed the Mima with his own experiences in mind. There was many different features he wanted to incorporate that would not only make life simplier, but also more stylish.

Here is just some of the special features that make the Mima stand out to me…

The mima cocoon seat pods. They not only look gorgeous and contemporary, but they have a hidden gem!
There is a zip going around the cocoon pod, you simply unzip this to reveal a carry cot suitable for a newborn baby. This takes just seconds to do. The cocoon pods have a luxurious padded seat as does the carrycot.

Davy Kho borrowed the sleek lines used in high end car design to come up with his choice of fabric. The Mima is the first pushchair brand that uses EVA foam material to create their cocoon seat pod. EVA has a matt finish and due to the properties it creates a flat surface, free from crease and wrinkles, like you would normally get with a fabric pushchair seat. I am told the EVA is also ultra hygienic which is fantastic to know when it is something us parents use so much in our daily lives.

Both the mima kobi, and the mima xari feature the ultra light and innovative Z shape chassis. A first in pushchair design. It is made from brushed aluminium, which not only means it is super light in weight, but it is super strong too.

The mima kobi

The mima Kobi, as you can see enables you to seat two children comfortably. There is plenty of variation.
You can use it just for one child as a single. Or you can add the second seat underneath to enable you to transport two babies, two toddler or even a toddler and a newborn baby. This would be a great buy if you were planning on having a second child as it grows with your family.

Davy, as a father of two, was keen to ensure that there would be ample space between the two tiers of the children.
The Kobi features the gorgeous Cocoon seat pods mentioned above.
You can also adjust the seat heights with a simple squeeze of a button. There is 3 different recline positions for the seats.
With the Kobi, you get the benefit of having a change bag which is a unique zipped pod that fits neatly in the basket. It can be left in there and used as a lidded basket as it has a clever lid that has a magnet fastening. It can also be taken out and has an adjustable strap that enables you to carry it around on your shoulder or even the back of the pushchair.

The mima xari

The mima xari is my favourite as I think my son Mark would look gorgeous in this!
This seats just the one child and there is no option to upgrade to add another seat unit. But it is slightly slimmer in width than the kobi, it weighs less and of course is cheaper too.

The xari also features the cocoon seat pods which hides a very neat carrycot inside of it. Like the kobi, it has two different seat heights, one which enables you to being your child down to a lower level when you need to. There is also 3 reclining positions. The xari features two magnetic closing baskets, one on the rear and one towards the front of the pushchair. The lids of the baskets is the same material as the contemporary seat pods, giving a nice clean finish. One of the features that stood out to me was that you can fold the xari with the seat unit still attached, something which I have found a lot of different brands don’t offer.

The mima xari and the kobi are available in dark grey seating options with a choice of black or red luxury soft furnishings. There is also a limited edition colour scheme being launced for both pushchairs, the Cosmo! This teams a sleek black frame with silver cocoon seat pods. It is simply stunning!
