We are huge fans of the Very Hungry Caterpillar. It started as a book I adored, and then the merchandise that has come along in more recent years always seems to find a place in our home. My 4 year old has the cutest ‘Hungry Caterpillar’ themed bedroom, and she knows the story off by heart.
So when we received these two new craft sets through for review, I knew they would be tested by the biggest Very Hungry Caterpillar fans.
We were sent these two sets
First up was the Foam Characters Design Kit. Inside this box is so many pieces, but conveniently split into the individual bags for each picture, so there is no arguing about which pieces you need if you are doing them with someone else.
You have enough to make two pictures, the Hungry Caterpillar and the Beautiful butterfly he becomes after he breaks out of his cocoon. Emma decided to do the Butterfly, and the first thing that made me realise this is the PERFECT craft set, is the fact that you don’t need any additional glue. The pieces are peel and stick, and my four year old loved being able to do this independently.
She followed the original design to a certain degree, adding an artistic touch that really makes it her own.
The finished result, she is so proud of this!
Brooke decided to do the Hungry Caterpillar for Emma and took a more detailed role as she is 12. She planned where to put the pieces before assembling. But of course, the four year old had to get involved and ‘help’ her.
The finished result!
I adore this set, it has everything in you need for the complete craft. There is no additional materials needed at all, and this would be amazing at taking away on UK holiday breaks or visits to family. A massive 10/10 thumbs up from us!
Next up was the Super Dough Model Kit. We are massive ladybird fans, with my four year olds middle name actually being ‘Ladybird’ on her birth certificate, she adores a ladybird!
Opening up the set, I was pleased to find little pots of the dough, rather than packets, this means you have somewhere to store it after, always a welcome pleasure.
Touching the dough, I realised it’s like nothing else I have touched before. It is dough, but with the consistency of foam, it’s a really odd thing to describe! It means it is not sticky, it’s mess free but great fun to mould still. We loved making our little ladybird friend!
The great thing about this set is that it is reusable, you can add water to the dried out dough and remodel! Although, Emma is yet to let anyone touch her Ladybird!
You can find both these sets in TESCO stores now.
