Bemma is officially four years old, and is a total speed freak. I remember finding out when I was pregnant, that she was a girl and her dad admitted he thought a girl wouldn’t be much fun. But she has totally changed his mind! She loves bikes, cars and spends a lot of time at preschool constructing things. Don’t get me wrong, she loves pink and dolls, but she loves to get involved in cars and bikes! Her dad is a massive Scalextric fan and Emma loves watching the cars race around the track, but she is not allowed to touch or control the cars, as they are just too precious to him to let a four year old loose on them….so when THIS turned up for review, and I explained it was her very own Scalextric set to play with, she couldn’t wait to get started!

Opening the box, I found all the pieces of track so you can make a figure of 8 track. I won’t lie, I am rubbish at assembling things like this, but there is red and yellow arrows on the track so you can work it out very easily. The pieces click together straight forward, although I doubt my little Emma could do it alone just yet, but the 6 year old can. Once the track is assembled, just plug in and you are away! No batteries needed (yay!).

I have to say that I did mess up the track the first time, but this is another plus for me, as it doesn’t matter which way you connect the track, it still works! Even when your yellow and red is muddled!

The cars are lighter than your average Scalextric, they are a bit more plastic and seem very robust. Ours have been raced and crashed, crashed and raced, and still look as good as new! They easily go back on the track, and Emma loves being able to do this herself too.

As you can see, it doesn’t take up that much space either, but it’s a good size track at the same time. It has been a total hit in our house, we love it! Check out the clip of it in action….
