I am a lover of gadgets, anything to make my life easier is a winner in my books. So when I found out about LightwaveRF and experienced what their products can do, I just had to shout about it.
There are many products in their range, and quite frankly, I want them all. But we started off with the Lightwave Link which is the hub that connects to your WiFi router. You can then add different components all around the house, which can then all be controlled with one app on your smartphone or tablet. Sounds technical? Well it’s not at all….it’s a really simple set up, LightwaveRF call it ‘plug & play’ which describes it perfectly. You can then add as many, or as little number of devices to the main Lightwave Link.
The devices available to add to your Lightwave Link are vast, with heating controls, radiator controls, lights, plug sockets, the list includes the option to control pretty much any electrical device within your home, from any location, which means you can control your home even when you are not there. This also means that you can set timers, great for when you are away on holiday, but also great for being able to turn your heating on in real time too, imagine coming home to a toasty house and hot water, perfection.
We received the ‘LW270 13A Power Sockets (2 Gang)‘ and ‘LW400Dimmer Switch (1 Gang)‘ to add to our Lightwave Link. We chose the Black Chrome colour scheme, as this is a current theme throughout our house, but they are also available in white, steel and chrome too. The switches are sleek, look modern and the LED lights on them add a really nice touch.
Fitting the Dimmer Switch was really simple, you just undo your existing switch and disconnect it, and connect the existing two wires to the new dimmer switch and slot the new fitting back in the existing hole. You then have to pair the device to your app, this is again really simple, just by holding the two buttons on the switch, until the lights flash which is then picked up by your app . You are then done, and ready to control the lights with your app. You can adjust the brightness up and down, turn it on and off, and set a timer too, all from the comfort of your smartphone. Just imagine how you can use this in your existing life, I can now turn the lights off from my bed without getting up and stubbing my toe in the dark. It also means if my daughter wakes up in the night, I can turn it on low to see to her, without the full brightness of a main light. You can also set the main lights to wake you up gently, the light will come on at a set time and gently increase the brightness, there is also a dusk and dawn setting that senses when the lights need to come on. But the actual physical switch can still be used to turn the lights on and off, and even dim it too. There is finally the option to ‘lock’ the switches so that nobody can manually turn the light on or off, great if you don’t want the kids getting up too early turning their light on at 3am.
So then you come to the ’13A Power Sockets’. This is a real game changer for the family, it has so many uses, not only for safety but practical uses too. I have set these up in the kids rooms, they are great because you can turn the socket off and lock it, which means games consoles or TV’s cannot be turned on when you don’t want them to. Remember you can control every single socket from your app, which means you can turn that console off when you want them to go to bed, clever hey? It also has the safety element of being able to turn it off for younger children, again this is great for all around the house, especially when babies start exploring the world around them. You can also buy a ‘Socket Locker’ which is a handheld remote to enable you to lock and unlock the switches too, great as a back up for guests to use so they don’t have to use your mobile or tablet, and handy to have to hand if your smartphone or tablet runs out of battery.
I have been really impressed with the LightwaveRF range, and there is so many more products available too, with energy monitors which show real time statistics as well as the heating controls which we are yet to explore for our house, there really is a product for everyone in the range to make your life easier. We adore the switches and sockets, and will be replacing all of our existing ones with LightwaveRF products.
You can find out more about LightwaveRF online at www.lightwaverf.com where you can find all the products, features and even links to authorised retailers.
Yes, I set up a blog 5 years ago and spent time filling it with other content until I could bide my time and use it to market LightwaveRF products…a company I have no affiliation with, other than receiving some of their products for review as I was looking to purchase some. Makes so much sense doesn’t it?
Fantastic read. I like how stylish the Lightwave products look.
