Yes, that title may sound a little, well, sad. But the fact is it’s true!

As a mother who is destined to be at home every weekend for the forseeable 15+ years, I have to embrace my new weekends. Long gone are those weekends where I spent the day shopping for the killer outfit, then hours preening and pre-drinking before hitting the town. One thing that hasn’t changed is the fact I quite often still see 4am, but rather than it being because I am getting home with sore feet from those killer heels, it’s now because one (or more!) of the children are bored/tired/hungry (delete as applicable). But I wouldn’t change it for the world, the thought of donning the heels for a night out just isn’t as appealing as it was back then. Instead I like nothing better than getting the house tidy, the kids in bed, having a hot bath before settling down in my pjs to watch the X Factor, followed by Xtra Factor of course. That feeling of ‘Ahhhhh’, as you sit down with your feet up. Hell if I am feeling really extravagant I will treat myself to a cheeky little cocktail too! You can always join in the fun with the free app available on your smart phones, or if you are feeling lucky you could place a bet with Betfair to choose the winner.

It is super easy to make, and I love using my Sodastream to fizz up standard tap water, it’s so much cheaper and you can control the fizz level. Simply  put the mint leaves and lime into a glass, and use a rolling pin to mash it up, add ice, add a shot (or two, I don’t judge) of white rum and top with the fizzy water. Of course, a straw is standard to give that cocktail feel, umbrellas are optional but not frowned upon.

So who is your favourite so far? I can’t lie, I am loving the boy bands this year. Bring on Saturday!

I have been compensated for the purpose of this post for my cocktail treats, all thoughts and contents are my own.
