The Very Hungry Caterpillar is 45!

Yes you read it right, The Very Hungry Caterpillar is 45 years old! The amazing Eric Carle first released the world famous book 45 years ago, and what a hit it has become! It is one of the most read children’s book in the UK, selling over 36 million copies worldwide since its publication in 1969 and translated into more than 55 languages.

I remember fondly as a child reading the paper back version, loving the holes in the book. The illustrations were cute and appealed to me massively. As I have grown up, it has stayed a firm favourite, and I couldn’t wait to introduce my children to the hit book when they were born. This was Marky, 4 years ago…

But our love for The Very Hungry Caterpillar doesn’t end there, we have loads of Hungry Caterpillar things, so imagine my delight when this box turned up…

In the box was the amazing Bookends, available for £20 from www.portmeirion.co.uk These are utterly gorgeous, they are made from ceramic, and are solid enough for hard backed books. I adore them!

Ravensburger have some amazing jigsaws, with My First Puzzles, RRP £5.99 available from Hamleys, Argos, Tesco and Amazon. These are great quality thick pieces which even the little Emma hands can do. There is 2, 3, 4 and 5 piece puzzles included. Ravensburger also have a Mini Memory game (RRP £3.99), suitable from 3 years plus, the cards feature all the favourite characters, what he eats and what he becomes. These are great for toddlers.

For those important occasions, there is also a fabulous range of greetings cards available. There is even a height chart card, so it’s more than a card. You can give the gift of a keepsake, that will last forever with their childs height on. There is also celebration cards, all which are gorgeous and come with coloured envelopes.
