Last month I attended a lovely launch with the Kindle team, they showed me the brand new Kindle Fire HDX, and gave me a thorough demo. As a mother to four children, I am keen for the children to embrace technology. But it can be tricky to know what to look for when you purchase a tablet for a child, but I can honestly say the Kindle Fire HDX has everything you could need, and more besides.
Firstly, and probably most importantly for me, the child friendly settings are amazing. You can set up accounts for the children on ‘FreeTime’. This means you can add different accounts for different children, allowing them to have an individually tailored experience. You can decide if they are allowed internet access, if they can access certain parts, and most amazing, you can set time limits. I love this feature as it means I don’t have to be the one who imposes a time ban, the Kindle does it, so it gets the blame from my children, clever hey?!
Then of course there is the MayDay button. I wanted to test this at the demo launch, but alas, it was too noisy to hear the Amazon expert. But if you hit the MayDay button at any point, you get put straight through to an expert who can help with any problems you might have. And yes, that’s any time, I *may* of done it at 2am….it’s 24/7.
It has a camera, a camera that my son adores. It has graphics which are amazing, better than HD I am told. The sound is awesome, and the best part? The videos available to view, my children are in awe at the range available at a touch of the finger. There is so so many more features beside the ones I have mentioned, if you are looking for a tablet, you have to take a peek at the Kindle Fire HDX to compare features, I don’t think you will be disappointed.
