Last weekend I decided to go shopping for jeans. The last pair of jeans I wore were maternity jeans, you know the type, big ones with a pouch for your big baby belly. Only I have no big baby belly any more….just a big empty belly. My pre-pregnancy jeans have been shoved in the back of the loft, which was probably a good thing considering the three stone I have put on. So I took one of the children shopping, and hit the shops for jeans.

Pre-pregnancy I was never even a fan of jeans, but I need something casual to wear daily and reinforced seams are appealing with the extra spillage I have around my legs and bum. I hit the shops with a plan, it was a quiet Sunday and there was not many people around to see me in a clothes shop looking a state. I selected size 14 jeans in a few shapes and colours and hit the changing room. I tried the first pair on and they fitted, like properly fitted, I could do them up and everything! With glee I ran back and grabbed a few more pairs in this size. Only it must of been a lucky fluke of a generous first pair, as everything else I tried on in a 14 wouldn’t even go up my legs. I had to order a size 16 to be delivered to my house. Yes, a size 16. I am 5’1, as you can imagine, I resemble a weeble.

Weeble purple aka danielleSo this was the kick I needed, I needed to stop gorging on chocolate and fizzy drink. I no longer could use the excuse that I am eating for two, in fact the only excuse I could find was that I was consoling myself after a bad nights sleep.

Someone once gave me some advice, and it’s advice that will always stick with me. The need of wanting to lose weight needs to be stronger than the need to want to eat the bad food. That need of losing weight has kicked in big time, and most definitely outweighs the want of bad food. It doesn’t take a genius to know how to lose weight in my opinion, you eat healthy and exercise.

Today is day five of my diet. I have had no sugary fizzy drinks, only the odd glass of diet cola. I have been drinking loads of water and the occasional options hot chocolate. Food wise I have cut out all treats, chocolate and sweets. I have been so good I have actually amazed myself. At the newsagents I have resisted buying treats when buying the children a treat. I thought after a few days I would be wanting a bar of chocolate, but I don’t. I know that if I cave in now, then everything I have done this week has been for nothing. So I continue….weighing day will be Monday!
