A swing has always been on my wanted list for every baby I have had, but all I have ever bought before was a Graco Travel Swing back in 2004 when my daughter Brooke was born. Now it’s 2013 and the Graco Sweetpeace landed on my doorstep. I was intrigued to see how much has changed in 6-7 years!

First of all, assembly was easy peasy, it took just minutes to put together which was good as we decided to leave it until Baby Emma was born before we put it together.

So once assembled it was easy to work out how to use, despite a hefty instruction manual, it doesn’t take a genius or loads of studying to work out how to use this, which is just as well as us mums of newborns are struggling to keep our eyes open, let alone have time to read books!

The swing has some impressive features and the first thing that struck out to me was the seat unit. The seat unit can be positioned to either sit facing forward, or to the side. This means you can change the baby from swinging forwards and backwards to side to side.  It is easily removable simply by pressing a button on the front. It also reclines in 3 positions too. But it doesn’t stop there…you can also use a Junior car seat on the swing, it sits exactly where the seat unit does, so if you come in from the car and baby is asleep you can just pop their seat on here without disturbing them-amazing for giving you a few minutes to put the shopping away. I personally do not have the car seat so haven’t tried this actual function out. But the seat that comes included can also be used separately on the floor as a stand alone seat too.

However, the other functions more than make up for the fact I don’t own the car seat, so you would not be disappointed if you have the swing and a non compatible car seat, it is still worth the purchase. Firstly it has 6 speeds and 2 speed vibrations. I haven’t needed to have it anything above 4 yet.

The bar across the front of the seat unit is removable on either one side, to allow easy access to your baby, or you can remove it completely if you so wish. On this bar is a cute mirror and a teething toy too. The hood above the seat has a toy elephant hanging down which is removable, but in all honesty I would love a big bigger hood for daytime napping.

There is a 5 point harness which does what it should, it has adjustable straps for both the shoulder straps and the waist straps independently, so you can get the perfect fit for your child. I used this swing since Emma was just 2 days old, and it fitted perfectly. There is an insert included which helps cradle a newborn baby, it has raised edges to keep their heads in place.

But, despite all those amazing features I have mentioned, get this- it has an MP3 plug in connection! Yes, you can plug your ipod or suchlike into the swing and play your child your favourite tunes. Emma is a big fan of Will.i.am so this is amazing! The volume control on the swing is great, you can turn it up and down, and also mute it instantly (handy for muting it when the phone rings and you are working from home!).

Here is a video demo of the Graco Sweetpeace, showing you some of the features.

I am astounded with this swing, it does everything I could possibly want, and more! The only negative I can find is that the hood isn’t big enough for my personal preference  and that it is a large item if you live in a tiny house. But apart from that, it’s brilliant. Oh and did I mention it plugs into the mains??? Amazing-no more draining batteries!! This swing gets a 9.5 out of 10 from me and my little Emma.
