It is a well known fact that I never say no to a free lunch, so when Frankie and Bennys offered us a voucher to review one of their restaurants and sample some cocktails as well as some food thrown in for good measure, I was more than up for the challenge.
We had planned on an evening out, but childcare meant that it was a lunchtime date for me and hubby.
Walking into Witney Frankie and Bennys, it didn’t look massively busy, but there was a party of 15 or so going on, and as a result it did take a while to get seated. The staff looked very rushed but they were friendly enough.
Looking through the cocktail menu, there is a vast range available. I chose to have one Woowoo £4.95)(my long term fave!) It wasn’t spectacular to look at like some of the others, but it tasted delicious!
and hubby has 3 others which included:
Appletini – Erisoff Vodka, apple shnapps, pressed apple juice, and gingerbread syrup (£4.95) which tasted very light and drinkable!
Espresso Martini – Fresh espresso, erisoff vodka, Kahula coffee liqueur ( £5.95) which looked amazing topped with the coffee beans! It tasted like a lovely after dinner treat if you would be too full for dessert.
Bramble – Bombay Sapphire Gin, fresh lemon juice, sugar, Chambord black-raspberry liqueur £5.95) which tasted lovely, refreshing although quite sweet.
They arrived after quite a wait, I did wonder if the barman has forgotten, but after speaking to a passing worker (the manager it turned out) they are working hard to get the cocktails just right every time. They haven’t employed special cocktails makers, but are training up the existing staff. This is giving them motivation and giving them some extra valuable skills too which is rather lovely to know.
The cocktails that turned up looked spectacular, a real treat! It was explained to us how they have a special offer on cocktails on certain nights, and I made a mental note to come back after baby is born!
The food we had to accompany the cocktails was lovely. My hubby is a big man, and indulged in a Big Sample Platter (£14.45) and 16oz Rump Steak (£22.95), as well as a Eli’s vanilla cheesecake (£4.95) for dessert.
Oh and don’t forget the three cocktails he sunk!! As you can see, he is NOT a cheap date! I had F&B New York Chicken ( £13.95) which was lovely, although hubby had to finish mine off! We left with full bellies, but with me hankering more yummy cocktails, I will definitely be going back soon!
