Tablets are big business at the moment, and with them being used everywhere in life, including the kids schools it is no surprise that parents are keen for their children to have their own one at home. They are set to be on many children’s Christmas Lists this year, and my kids are no exception to this! But it is a minefield to know which tablet to buy the children. There is many younger aimed models, which are aimed for toddlers but we have found that our two year old actually gets more enjoyment out of the Kurio, I shall explain more in just a second. There is very expensive fruity named tablets which although not aimed at children, are handy and easy to use, but what about security settings?
When I found out the Kurio is stacked with all the features I wanted, and lots more, it was a clear winner. Here is why:
Firstly getting the Kurio you set up a ‘Parental Access Profile’, this is password protected and enables you to disable everything you don’t want your child having. You can limit internet access, either by turning it all off, allowing certain sites, or giving full access. It also has the most amazing feature I have ever experienced, a timer which allows you to set which time it can be used for. You can set for session times, and I set a bedtime of 7pm. It won’t allow my son to use it again until 7am the next morning, allowing sleep time. I know that I can be safe in the knowledge that he isn’t getting up in the night to play Angry Birds. You can also control what apps they can access too.
So what if you have more than one child? Well fear not, as you can set up different profiles. This means that my 10 year old can have his access to the internet, while my 2 year can log on and have no internet access but access to his favourite apps. Meanwhile at a touch of a button I can access my profile and use it too.
What if my child drops it? The Kurio is robust. I am talking very robust. Ours has been sat on and stood on (not recommended but it happens!) and is perfect. It has also been dropped, and the green rubber case that comes included means it is still working fine.
