People often ask me advice on starting up their very own blog. My advice is always started with a warning of me saying ‘It’s not as easy as you might think’.
Firstly you need to think about what you want to blog about. There is a vast range of blogs out there, for everything from beauty, to clothes, to cups of tea, the world is your oyster! I suggest thinking about your interests and what you feel you could write about. For me that was my children.
Next up is the daunting task of picking a name. There is many sites out there, so use google and check domains out to see if they are already taken. My advice would be to pick something that is easy to spell. The last thing you want is people mis-typing your web address.
The third step is the most exciting! Set your blog up. Now I used blogger as my first blogging platform. I had a little knowledge of html, so found it very easy to do. However, since then I have bought my own hosting and now have this little beauty of a site!
That’s it! You are all ready to go! Now all you have to do is create some interesting content that people want to read. That might sound hard, but honestly just write about what you know or what you like, it’s as simple as that!
It has been an incredible amount of hard work getting my blog to what it is, but it is far from perfect in my eyes. In fact, if I knew then what I do now I think I wouldn’t of bothered starting it. But saying that I have made some incredible friends who I never would of spoken to had I not been blogging, that I am thankful for! My children have had some amazingĀ opportunities and I have too, we are a real online blogging family!
