I think I can actually smell it, and boy does it smell good! Friday, one of my favourite days of the week. In fact it is the kids most favourite day of the week as apparently you do fun things at school on a Friday…which makes me think the teachers are feeling like us parents are after having the kids at home all week, they give them something fun to do which will amuse them for hours on end.
It’s been a long week for me despite the bank holiday, I have been working in the office all week for a company I freelance for. It’s been stressful and has involved two hours travelling everyday, made worse by morning rush hour. Then as I was pulling out of my car port I felt a bump…not a big bump, just a little minor bump, think bump in the road. It wasn’t until I got to work that I noticed I must of forgotten to actually pull out of the car port before I turned the car. I appear to have taken the paint off the pillar along with a little bit of wood….
Last night as a treat we decided to have indian takeaway, it’s a real treat for us as we only have one in a blue moon. We ordered using an online takeaway service (you know the one), and always being up for something new I found a new indian takeaway which had 20% off, a national deal at various restaurants. I picked through my options carefully but decided on my old faithful favourite, chicken tikka masalla and naan bread. Hubby then spent an hour deciding on his before I could actually process the order, at this point I was ready to start eating my own limbs….our indian takeaway turned up and opening up those little foil containers I found a tikka masalla which was a pot of tomato sauce with some rubbery substance which I assume was meant to be chicken, inside it. Hubby moaned his lamb was tough as an old boot (why he has experienced eating an old boot is beyond me), and the icing on the metaphorical cake was my missing naan bread. Missing, absent, invisible. I checked again and again, willing it to appear in the bag but nothing, my naan bread was forgotten and I actually had a tear come to my eye. Do the takeaways not realise how important a naan bread is to a hormonal lady?!!
So what did I do with said meal? Well I tasted a bit, I tried using a piece of kingsmill bread to eat the pot of watery tomato sauce but it tasted disgusting. Did I phone up? No I went onto the online takeaway website and wrote them an awful review which reads…
‘A complete waste of money. Tikka Masalla was bland and just a pot of tomato sauce. Lamb was tough and inedible. Nann bread missing from order. Chicken was rubbery. Onion Bhajis cold and soggy. I am left hungry as we binned most of it, in fact the poppadoms were the only thing I ate!I am completely dissapointed, a complete waste of money, next time I shall pay a little more from elsewhere and get a meal that is actually edible. I have tried every indian in <insert town here> and this is by far the worst.’
I hit enter with a smile on my face, which was promptly wiped off my face when I saw they still have 5 out of 6 stars for their rating! Reading the reviews since and previously it seems everyone has had a bad experience so how the hell can they have 5 out of 6 stars! Then to top it all off I was still hungry so had to make myself a cheese sandwich. Who needs change when there is nothing wrong with what you already have….next time I shall stick to my trusty expensive takeaway and know I shall have a decent meal!! And yes, I know I am getting old when I have nothing better to write about than my dinner disaster.
thats why I never buy take away. Mind my hubby did that in the co-op car park a few years back, forgot he had parked next to a trilley bay ( below line of window) and dint take car far enough forward before starting his turn…..result one bashed in back door….only had the car 2 weeks….but only cost me a couple of hundred so wasnt really caring
eeeek! Glad it’s not just me that does things like that! It was early morning, so I am going to blame early mornings on it lol!
