I am sure I am not the only mum in the country to put herself last, in fact as mothers I think we always put our families first and forget about ourselves. Which is why I am walking around feeling like a tramp while my family are kitted out in new shiny togs which look really smart.
But that needs to change, I want to look respectable. Not anything amazing, but just look ok and not look like I rolled out of bed into the nearest outfit off the floor (even if I have!). So my plan is to make an effort to buy one new item a month which I love. Last month I bought this dress…
I love it, its very different from what I normally wear but I feel good wearing it.
This month I have my eyes set on a new bag. Now gone are the days of my Louis Vuitton handbags which can barely hold my purse let alone a nappy. So I have my eyes on something new. Not only is Radley a favourite brand of mine pre-children, but they have a funky range of across body bags which mean I still have my hands available to tend to the children. Stylish and sensible, see I think of everything.
Then next month I need shoes. This is a nightmare. I lived in 6 inch heels right up to giving birth with my last child. The midwife gave me a sharp telling off so I bought my first ever pair of flat pumps and left them in my boot for midwife appointments. There is a reason why I never wore flats, I am 5’1 (if I stretch really tall), and I have wide calves, I need all the help heels can give me…and then some. But this summer I need to be comfortable and not look like I am a cheap hooker. At 27 years old I need more sensible shoes, although a fellow blogger laughed hysterically at me when I showed her these that I spotted….
But they look so comfortable and I honestly don’t think they look that bad! Or is it just that practicality takes over when you near your 30’s??
