I first saw this at The Toy Fair and was instantly surprised at the creativity factor with this set. As a mum to a 7 year old girl who loves arty things, this seemed like a great way to keep her amused as well as letting her creativity skills run wild.
Opening up the very pink box was the following contents
There is 1 mannequin included (already assembled), 3 sheets of modable fabric, 3 sheets of accent fabric, 4 ribbons, 1 double sided tape and instructions.
Opening up the instruction it is clearly illustrated to show you what you need to do. Now you can go online to www.crayolacreations.com and print out some fantastic templates to use, or you can freestyle and design your own. We decided to design our own….although in hindsight maybe my art skills at drawing a mannequin were not quite up to scratch!
It is then a case of picking which fabrics you want and designing something fabulous! You can let your imagination run wild. We decided to do quite a simple design first of all….
Brooke used the double coloured pink/navy fabric to create a strapless dress. The material is not like anything I can describe, but I will try! It is thick fabric which bends almost like thick tin foil, so it stays in shape. But you can smooth it down and crinkle it up, the choice is yours! It is easy to bend and twist and little fingers can easily achieve great results, there is no frustration of not being able to get it do what you want.
Once the basic fabric is sorted you can then get creative with the final touches! There is glittery fabric paint which is great for giving a bit of sparkle! There is lace fabric, ribbons, and some chiffon style fabric too. Brooke decided to use a piece of black lace as a belt and add some fabric paint detailing.
She is very pleased with the end result and is already designing some more!!
Crayola Catwalk Creations Glam Collection is a brilliant set for young girls who want to get designing and create some fashion, maybe even if they have not shown an interest in fashion before they would love the arts and crafts aspect of this. It is a great addition to the Crayola Creations range and we absolutely love it! You can buy Crayola Creations Catwalk Creations online and in all good toy shops.
>this has changed since I reviewed it about a year ago for izziwizzi kids. The mannequin came in 2 pieces and you put her together, this a better idea as she fell apart. I also got a book with all the patterns in and you just copied them or cut them out. I really liked the fact you could use your own material afterwards so it would last forever
I did not get a book and when trying to get template online from the site given their were none. I felt horrible because we did not know what to do.
>Hi Elaine,
Yes this is a completely new product for this year, the mannequin is one piece and very sturdy. I never thought about using my own fabric actually, I do know you can buy refill packs, one of which is printable! 🙂
