>Now that 2012 is officially upon us, I have sat down to work out all of our finances. I am a real bargain hunter, and get great pleasure from knowing I have saved money on something. But what about the essential things, like food, gas and electric? I truly believe that you can still make some considerable savings with these too.
Meal planning is a great way to save money, it means that when you go shopping you are only buying what you need for your meal plan. No excess spending needed! Of course, if you are super clever you can hunt down some coupons, and even compare online the price of you shopping would be at different supermarkets.
As for the household bills, well you can now compare electricity prices and work out which supplier you would be getting the best deal with. 20% of customers save £200 on their energy bills, which to me is fantastic! I work really hard to earn my money, so the less I spend on the bills, the more I can pop into the holiday fund!
I have also made a promise to myself to start using the piles of toiletries that I have accumulated from birthdays, Christmas, and those occasional bargains I pick up when I see them on offer. Going through the reserve stock I have even found stuff I didn’t realise I had! I truly believe I have enough to last me for the whole of 2012!
So there is a few of my money saving tips from me, yes I am a bargain hunter, but it’s all worth it when I know I saved valuable pennies!!
A great way of saving which works for me is to have a separate savings account online, I don’t smoke or drink, so each week I transfer a small amount of money to this other account. I use it for the children’s Birthdays and Christmas presents, which means our monthly budget doesn’t fly out of the window on the Birthday months!
