We were sent some LEGO Cars 2 sets to review. First up was the massive LEGO #8639 Big Bentley Bust Out.
Bust out of the Big Bentley Tower! Get into the fast-paced LEGO building action with a new scene from the Disney/Pixar Cars movies. Lightning McQueen is being held captive in Big Bentley Tower. Agent Mater, Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell rush to the rescue. Help our 4-wheeled heroes to bust him out and hit the road! Includes World Grand Prix Lightning McQueen, Agent Mater, Finn McMissile, Holley Shiftwell, The Queen, Miles Axlerod and Professor Z Big Bentley Tower features secret entrance, control panels and flag-pole Sneak into the Big Bentley Tower’s secret entrance! Use the lift to reach the top! Launch through the Big Bentley Tower clock into freedom with the slammer function! Big Bentley Tower measures over 13′ (33cm) tall and 3′ (7cm) wide, Cars all measure over 2′ (5cm) long and 1′ (2cm) wide
Included in the box is 743 pieces, which creates everything included on the front of the box.
Opening up the box I was impressed that they modified the cardboard boxes that the LEGO sets come in. You no longer have to rip the whole box open to get the contents out, you can open it easily and reseal the box afterwards, very handy for us as I like to keep Jordans LEGO sets in their proper boxes rather than the big box of LEGO never to be seen again.
Included for this set is two instructions booklets. The first booklet is is for building all the cars that come included with this set. There is 48 pages included in this booklet, and there is a whopping 7 cars included in the set.
Jordan set to work sorting out which bags were for what. They are all numbered, so this was great for number recognition.
I gave Jordan a lid of a show box in order for him to tip the packets out, so no pieces would fall on the floor, or even get hoovered up by my toddler. We found this a great way to keep everything in reach and easy to find.
The second instruction booklet is for the construction of the Big Bentley Tower. There is 61 pages inside the booklet, with one step on each page. It was easy to follow and Jordan was engaged the whole time.
One of the great things about the Big Bentley Bust Out set is that it has mechanical parts, which makes the set a little bit more tricky to build, but also offers alot more scope for playing. It has a ‘slammer’ which means you can slam the car out of the front of the Big Bentley Tower, just like the film! It also has a working lift hidden inside the tower, so the cars can get to the top of the tower.
Jordan was delighted with his completed model, it took him a good hour and a half, and he really felt like he accomplished something fantastic. The tower assembles over 13 inches once built. It is a great interactive set which not only is enjoyable to bui;d, but will provide hours of fun once assembled.
Here is a video of Jordan showing me the different parts of the LEGO Disney Cars 2 Big Bentley Bust Out set.
