My children absolutely love playing with modelling dough, but my big issue with the stuff is that it dries up so quickly and ends up rock hard stuck to the equipment. So when I received a super package of Plasticine Softeez, seeing it doesn’t dry up made me VERY happy. It also bought back all those memories from when I was small. Gone are the days of buying a small cardboard sleeve with a few thin sheets of plasticine, but now you can buy massive bars and even kits too!
Cracking it all open, my biggest surprise was that my 13 year old took to this stuff immediately, he LOVED creating figures of superheroes, along with his 6 year old brother they spent hours playing with it, and I wondered why I have never purchased any before! The big 150g slabs of the Plasticine Softeez are just perfect for them, it costs just £1.29 each!
My 3 year old is crazy on Turtles, so the ‘Under the Sea’ play set was perfect for her. Included is 12 pieces of plasticine, a background mat to work on, and 9 tools, these included a rolling pin, cutters and other helpful accessories.
Using the plasticine can be a bit of learning curve, first up it isn’t as soft at other modelling dough at first, but you only need to knead it for a few seconds before its pliable and ready for action. I adore that it doesn’t dry up, and it doesn’t seem to mix as badly as other ‘doughs’, we have multicoloured plasticine instead of that horrid dark green colour that usually happens. I am a complete convert! PS. It still has the exact same endearing smell it used to have when I was a child.
