Stokke Scoot V2 ‘My First Thoughts’ Review

I have admired the Stokke Scoot for a while now, as a hardcore Xplory lover, I know that Stokke can produce something amazing, but at the same time I am curious about if it will stand up to be even a patch on the much loved Xplory. When I heard there was a new Stokke Scoot V2, I was happy to test one out. It seems the Scoot was popular, things can only get better, right?

My first thoughts were positive, while unboxing it I found it was just a case of adding the wheels, easily done with a push of a button for each one. The Scoot seat has the same Stokke quality feel, it has the same hard wearing ‘Black Melange’ fabrics I have used for nearly two years on my Xplory. Of course, it is available in a variety of colours, with Slate Blue, Red, and Black, as the other colours available.  Adding the seat was easy, its just a case of slotting it in place. It can be used parent facing (my favourite!), and also forward facing. It is easily changeable by pressing a button on each side and lifting it up, sounds trickier than it is, you don’t need any extra hands to do it, and the great thing is you do not need to remove the seat to fold the pushchair.  The five point harness is fully adjustable, and you also get the strap covers to match your chosen fabrics too.  The hood is adjustable, and you have the option of using an additional visor (included), which is attachable (and detachable) with the use of a zip. The visor and hood comes down really far, so hopefully this will prove to be handy. There is a footrest, which you can take on and off, although I didn’t find it easy to put on and off, but how many times do you need to do that? My only grumble so far is the fold. I manage to put the pushchair down easy, but pressing the button to release the ‘stay closed’ lock and unfold it, is really tricky. I shall report back on this, and show you more detail of how it fold, how big the fold is, how much it weighs to carry, and more.

The Scoot V2 chassis has a few new features too. The wheels are a massive difference from the original Scoot. It has quite sizeable rubber foam filled tyres. The adjustable handlebar is also a new feature, you simply push the button on the inside of the handlebar at both sides to adjust it. The cupholder is now on the right hand side of the handlebar. Another new feature is the recline, not only can the seat recline to be completely flat, but there is a now a half way recline, along with the sitting up position. It sits up nice and straight, and the shape of the seat is really supportive for my toddler. She is not a small baby by any means, she is over 90cms tall, yet she has headroom, as well as leg room.

Today, in true Sunday spirit, I decided to take the Stokke Scoot V2 for a post-roast stroll. I live in the Cotswolds, and uneven paths, fields and country lanes are an abundance here. My first thoughts are positive, Emma loves being in the Scoot. I have found the wheels to be great, I have been through country lanes and only once did I get stuck, on a boulder. The wheels seem to glide over lumps and bumps. The adjustable handlebar has proved great, with over 6 foot tall sister in law, she was able to push it comfortably. I am 5’2 myself, and it has a lovely lower setting that means less elbow strain.

I am yet to test the Stokke Scoot in town, but I shall be off there very soon to see how it rolls….
