When my 2 year old son came home from nursery clutching one of these beauties, I just had to share!

Firstly make some biscuits. There is many simple mixes but my favourite one is:

Mix 250g softened butter and 140g caster sugar in a large bowl with a wooden spoon, then add 1 egg yolk and 2 tsp vanilla extract and briefly beat to combine. Sift over 300g plain flour and stir until the mixture is well combined – you might need to get your hands in at the end to give everything a really good mix and press the dough together.

Simply roll out and get the kids to help cut out some circles.

Place the unbaked biscuits on a greased baking sheet and get something to make a smallish hole in each biscuit. I found a clean pen (with lid on!) great for this.  Then simply bake your biscuits until golden brown.

Allow to cool. Then let the kids get decorating with different coloured icing and sweets.

To finish thread a strawberry liquorice strand through each one and tie a knot in it.

There you have it, your childs very own Olympic medal!
